Fusion ioDrive Duo is World’s Fastest Hard Drive
You read that right. Fusion has announced the launch of world’s first fastest Solid State Drive. The Fusion ioDrive is capable of transfer rate of upto 1.5 gigabytes per second which is more than enough for most of the people. Designed for enterprise and server market, the ioDrives comes in capacities of up to 640GB. The Fusion drive is designed to be used in a RAID-1 setup which makes it possible to hook two separate ‘drives’ on the same PCIe card. The Hard Drive has a Sustained read bandwidth of 1500 MB/sec or 1.5 Gbps and a Sustained write bandwidth of 1400 MB/sec or 1.4 Gbps. The solid-state protection for data integrity and reliability with triple redundancy for a single storage component make the Fusion ioDrive reliable enough for Server and Enterprise Market. The Fusion ioDrive will have 3 capacity models, 160 GB, 320 GB and 640 GB. A 1.2 TB model is set to be launched in Mid 2009. The product is expected to go for sale in April but the prices haven’t been released yet.
